#18: Monk on fire: The meditative mind of a burning monk

In this episode, Ciaran and Ian discuss Thich Quang Duc who was a Buddhist monk protesting in South Vietnam, when his image captivated the world.

Malcolm Browne won the World Press Photo of the Year in 1963 photographing Duc committing an act of self-immolation, burning to death. Central to our discussion today is the excellent scientific paper by Francis A.M. Manno  (2019) Monk on fire: The meditative mind of a burning monk, Cogent Psychology, 6:1, DOI: 10.1080/23311908.2019.1678556
